A wedge anchor, also called a concrete wedge anchor or expansion anchor, is a fastening system designed to secure objects to concrete or masonry surfaces. Ideal for projects requiring robust and reliable connections, these anchors excel in applications supporting heavy loads—such as attaching steel columns, handrails, or machinery to concrete floors or walls.

  • Wedge anchors are often the preferred solution for projects requiring ICC approvals, particularly when high pull-out resistance is critical. Their unique design features a sleeve precisely matched to the shank width, eliminating the need to modify pre-drilled holes.
  • Available in various sizes and materials, they accommodate diverse load requirements and environmental conditions.
  • Our stainless steel options, for example, offer corrosion resistance to enhance project longevity.

    How It Works
The anchor consists of a threaded metal rod or bolt with a cone-shaped expansion piece at one end. Installation follows these steps:

    • Use a hammer drill and masonry bit (matching the anchor’s diameter) to drill a hole in the concrete or masonry, sized to the anchor’s length.
    • Insert the wedge anchor into the hole and tighten a nut onto the threaded end.
    • The expansion piece wedges against the hole’s sides, creating a secure, load-bearing connection. Once set, objects can be attached directly to the anchor.

Key Benefits
  • Strength & Reliability: Provides dependable connections to concrete or masonry.
  • Versatility: Suits a wide range of heavy-duty applications.
  • Precision Fit: Eliminates hole modifications through exact diameter matching.
  • High Performance: Handles heavy loads with exceptional pull-out and shear resistance.
  • Vibration Resistance: Maintains stability in dynamic environments.
  • Durability: Built for long-term use, with stainless steel options for corrosive settings.
  • Ease of Installation: Accessible for users with varying skill levels.
